Posts Tagged ‘book group’Manifesto Book GroupWe now have a date for the first book group meeting….. …dun dun da da….. Thursday 4th September. The venue is to be Sofi’s bar on The Shore in Leith 8-9pm. The number 22 bus from Princess Street takes you to the door, or email for directions. At the first meeting, we will decide upon a list of books for the coming months. Everyone in the group will be invited to nominate a text or book - this could be a work of fiction, academic critique, play, or poems - on the very broad theme of alienation and injustice in line with the aims of The Manifesto. The idea is that we will each chair the meeting where our chosen book is discussed. We are also in discussions with local book shops about negotiating a discount on bulk-orders. Initially, meetings will be fortnightly, with the option of moving to once a month if it becomes more realistic. Please do spread the word about this as it would be great to have a wide range of voices represented. It’s an ideal time to get involved so even if you just want to listen in or join us for a coffee afterwards, you will be most welcome. 1 Comment |
